Abstract
Solutions of indicator dyes (Clarke and Lubs series) were micro-injected into the blastocoele of echinoderm embryos (Arbacia, Asterias, Echinarach-nias) at various stages of development. If injections are made without injuring the embryos, the colorimetric value of the p H of the blastocoele is always the same as that of the surrounding sea-water. Susceptibility to injury of the wall of the blastula and the archenteron of the pluteus would account for the low ph recorded by previous investigators for these stages. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
