Abstract
Pagrus auratus (Bloch & Schneider) is redescribed on the basis of material from Australasia and Japan. Pagrus Cuvier is a senior synonym of Chrysophrys Qaoy & Gamard, Chrysophris Cuvier, and Pagrosomus Gill. Pagrus auratus (Bloch & Schneider) is a senior synonym of P. major (Temminck & Schlegel) and the species is found widely in the Indo‐Pacific from New Zealand and Australia to China and Japan.Keywords
