The Educational Effectiveness and Economics of Delivery of the PLATO Basic Skills Mathematics Lessons: A Field Study

Abstract
The PLATO Basic Skills Mathematics lessons were used in three Florida high schools as a part of a program of mathematics remediation. The overall median gain for all students was 1.5 grade equivalents after spending 20 hours in the lessons. The predicted cost of raising a student from an average entry level of performance at the 5.8 grade level to the target 8.0 grade level was $147.00.
