Abstract
The use of Dimethylformamide-Trichloroethylene (DMF-TCE) as a solvent-nonsolvent mixture is suggested for the purification of acid and direct dyes of varying degrees of sulphonation. The dye purity was varied from 93% to 100% as indicated by the sodium analysis of the purified dyes. In addition to TCE the feasibility of various other solvents as precipitating agents was also qualitatively tested. Keywords
