Abstract
The mandible of the fourth stage mosquito larva has been examined comparatively for at least one species in each of all but 3 of the known genera. Dorsal and ventral surfaces of each mandible examined are illustrated. Representatives of one genus of Dixidae and of 2 genera of Chaoboridae are included. Homologies of mandibular substructures are derived and used for the development of a structural terminology suitable for use in taxonomic studies. Keywords
