Abstract
Since Liebreich's description of the retinal changes in leukemia, numerous ophthalmologists have recorded their experiences in contributions which take into consideration the description, the incidence, the prognostic significance and the histologic picture of the various ocular lesions observed in the several types of this condition. This report includes the results of a study of the retinal changes and the laboratory findings in 22 cases in which a diagnosis of leukemia was made by the members of the medical department of the Temple University Medical School. The clinical diagnosis was confirmed in 9 cases at autopsy and in 7 additional cases by biopsy. None of the eyes was studied microscopically. The ophthalmologic and clinical data in these cases conform in most instances to the observations of Wagener,1Goldback2and Frank.3The objects of this report are to discuss the ophthalmologic diagnosis and prognosis of leukemia
