Abstract
Hb Vancouver (.alpha.2.beta.2 73 (E17) ASP.fwdarw.TYR) was found in combination with the .beta..degree. thalassemia trait in a Chinese male who presented with splenomegaly and thalassemia intermedia. The family study has revealed 2 members with the .beta. thalassemia trait, 1 heterozygote for Hb E, and 2 heterozygotes for Hb Vancouver. The Hb Vancouver heterozygotes were clinically normal but their erythrocytes showed reduced osmotic fragility and occasional target cells. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
