George B. Maxey died on February 6. At age 59, Burke's death was untimely and unexpected. Those of us who knew him well, loved him and respected him and will sorely miss his valued counsel, knowledge, and judgment. Burke was a brilliant man who inspired as well as stimulated many because of his outspoken and forthright manner. Burke was also a man of great compassion with a heart as big as his native state of Montana. If it were possible at all, Burke would always find a way to help someone in need, whether it was gas money home for a student, finding a job, or cutting bureaucratic red tape.
