Abstract
A shortened version of the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale, Forms A and B (SHSS:A and B) of Weitzenhoffer and Hilgard (1959) was used with 26 hospitalized psychotics who were judged to be in gross reality contact. Results were consistent with those of past researchers who used the SHSS:A and B with similar S populations. Mean scores showed that psychotics can achieve a level of hypnotizability comparable to that of normal Ss. Reliability of individual Ss' scores for 2 sessions was high. Keywords
