Mandibular Joint Pressures

Abstract
The probable pressures affecting the mandibular joint were examined. Mouth opening, protrusion and contra-lateral movement produced a negative pressure (usually below 6 mm Hg). Closing, retrusion and ipsilateral movement produced a small positive pressure. This indicates the operation of a passive mechanism in the posterior attachment area of the disc.Keywords
