Abstract
Deletion of liver‐specific cell‐surface‐associated antigens from aminoazodyeinduced rat hepatomas was demonstrated by immunofluorescence techniques. Each of the hepatomas studied was found to lack a characteristic individual normal liver antigen. This parallels the concomitant expression of new hepatoma‐specific antigens which are also characteristic for each of these tumours. These findings suggest that neoplastic transformation by aminoazo dyes may result in the replacement of normal liver components at the cell surface by tumour‐specific antigens. Keywords
