Abstract
Measurements of cross sections for positronium formation in collisions of positrons of energies up to 251.4 eV with helium atoms and hydrogen molecules are reported. In both gases the cross sections are more than twice as large as the only other experimental values published to date. At low energies the measured values agree quite well with available calculations. Keywords
