Effect of Beta-Oxidized Nitrosamines on Syrian Golden Hamsters. I. 2-Hydroxypropyl-n-propylnitrosamine2

Abstract
2-Hydroxypropyl-n-propylnitrosamine (2-HPPN), an assumed metabolite of di-n-propylnitrosamine (DPN), induced neoplasms in the respiratory system of Syrian golden hamsters. The nasal cavity and the trachea were the main target organs, but tumors were also found in the liver. The carcinogenic effect of 2-HPPN was compared to that of DPN and methyl-n-propylnitrosamine, another assumed metabolite of DPN.
