AN ANALYSIS OF PARALYTIC THUMB DEFORMITIES

Abstract
1. In the early treatment of paralytic deformities of the hand, the prevention of soft-tissue contractures and joint changes is important. 2. Transplantation of the flexor digitorum sublimis of the ring finger to the proximal phalanx of the thumb has given the most satisfactory results in this Clinic, and has fulfilled all the requirements of opposition and increased strength. 3. Before operation is done, certain prerequisites must be fulfilled. The type of surgical procedure used depends upon the existing anatomy of the hand. The result will depend upon the proper choice of procedures.
