Nuclear Forces and Effective Interactions in Nuclei

Abstract
Local effective interactions in nuclei are calculated by using the reference spectrum method for four types of nuclear forces: the Hamada-Johnston potential, one of the Tamagaki-Wada-Watari potentials in the 3E state, the Brueckner-Gammel-Thaler potential and the Gaussian type soft core potential proposed by Tamagaki. Matrix elements necessary for the shell model calculations in 1p-shell nuclei are also calculated and compared with the results of the analyses given by Cohen and Kurath (CK) and the study group of Kirin University (KU). Because of “the off-energy-shell effect”, strengths of hard core spikes of our effective interactions for the nuclear forces with hard core are considerably larger than that of Brueckner, Gammel and Weitzner. There appear many discrepancies between our matrix elements and those of CK and KU.
