Increased mechanical muscle irritability syndrome

Abstract
Electrically silent rolling movements of the muscle under hand compression, myoedema and myotonic-like muscle responses to mechanical stimulation were presented by a patient. These muscle contractions suggest a disturbance of the myofibrillar apparatus function. This neuromuscular syndrome is similar to the muscular disorder described by Torbergsen. Histochemical and EM studies of the muscle showed morphological abnormalities unrelated to any specific muscle disease. A cerebellar syndrome attributed to a cerebellar atrophy was the main complaint. Both the neuromuscular syndrome and the cerebellar disorder were semiologically independent.
