Abstract
A new variable-angle (0-60 degrees ) intermediate-energy (0.5-3.0 keV) low-resolution (0.5 eV) large-energy-loss (500 eV) electron spectrometer is described. The spectrometer is a crossed-beam apparatus, featuring a Mollenstedt-type electron velocity analyser and a triode gun as the electron source. A versatile data-acquisition system based on a microcomputer (Motorola MEK 6802D5E) has been incorporated into the spectrometer. Small-angle energy-loss spectra are presented for nitrogen and Si(CH3)4 at 1 keV incident energy. Keywords
