ACETYL-DIGITOXIN (ACYLANID): RAPID DIGITALIZATION AND MAINTENANCE BY ORAL ADMINISTRATION

Abstract
Acetyl-digitoxin is a new pharmaceutically improved preparation having a short latent period with rapid onset of action and a slower rate of dissipation than lanatoside C or digoxin. Patients (26) were digitalized by using an initial oral dose of 0.8 mg followed by two 0.4 mg doses given at 2 hour intervals with satisfactory digitalization accomplished in 6-8 hours. Results were checked by clinical and ecg observations made every 2 hours. Few toxic effects occurred when a total dose of 1.6 mg was used. For maintenance, the dose of 0.15 mg/ day was most satisfactory.
