Abstract
Mild acid treatment of alcoholic solutions of Stenhouse salts has been shown to yield a mixture of the corresponding N-arylpyrrole-2-carbaldehyde and the N-aryl-3-hydroxypyridinium salt. Treatment of alcoholic solutions of the Stenhouse salts with a variety of bases leads to 4-substituted 2-arylaminocyclopent-2-enones.Keywords
