Abstract
THROMBOEMBOLIC disease has been associated with the use of norethynodrel with ethynylestradiol 3-methyl ether (Enovid). It is the purpose of this article to review the available literature and to present a patient in whom the temporal relation between the use of this drug and massive thromboembolism is striking. Documentation by angiocardiography and serial arterial gas studies is provided.Review of the LiteratureSince 1959 norethynodrel with ethynylestradiol 3-methyl ether has been available as a contraceptive for oral use. As of August, 1961, approximately 200,000 women in the United States were taking this drug. This figure reached 1,100,000 in August, 1962. . . .This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
