Abstract
I. multifiliis Fouquet, 1876, a fresh-water member of the Ophryoglenidae, and other "Ich-like" parasites of fresh-water fishes, appear limited in distribution and infectivity by the temperature tolerances of their hosts. Because of the widespread distribution of the parasite in aquaria, hatcheries and rearing ponds in tropical and temperate regions, multiple physiological races or even several separate species (possibly in more than 1 genus) may exist. Keywords
