Abstract

Documented chromosome numbers are provided for the 41 indigenous species and subspecies of Epilobium in New Zealand and also for 4 natural hybrid, and the 5 recorded naturalised species (Table 1). A comparative list (Table 2) covers the genus in Australia (12 spp. and subspp., including 6 in common with New Zealand) and New Guinea (4 spp.).
