Abstract
Infusions of streptokinase can be of value in chronic arterial occlusive disease, if certain criteria are observed. Most promising are stenoses of the abdominal aorta, common iliac artery, and external iliac artery. In some cases where conditions do not allow vascular surgery, streptokinase may be used in an attempt to restore blood flow through the obliterated vessel. Localization of the obstruction in the common iliac artery seems to be most favorable in these cases. Further studies, particularly on the duration of the results of successful thrombolytic treatment, are necessary. Keywords
