Abstract
Pieces of adult human articular cartilage and chondrosarcoma were incubated in the presence of [35S]sulfate. After continuous or pulse-change incorporation of radioactivity, proteoglycans were extracted with 4.0 M-guanidinium chloride, purified by equilibrium density-gradient centrifugation and fractionated by gel chromatography. A comparison of the results suggests that the formation of stable aggregates occurs at a lower rate in articular cartilage than in chondrosarcoma. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
