Abstract
THIS paper is another in a series dealing with controlled studies of the antibacterial action of human plasma after ingestion of antibiotics singly and in pairs.¶ The combination of chloramphenicol and penicillin with which it is concerned was among the first for which an antagonistic effect of two anti-biotics was clearly demonstrated both in vitro and in the treatment of an experimental infection of mice.7 , 8 However, since subsequent investigations by many workers have yielded markedly variable results, a résumé of the available reports on studies with this combination should be of interest.Previous Reports on the Combined Effects of Penicillin . . .
