Abstract
Dermal punch biopsies were obtained from 41 subjects prior to and following 2 weeks of daily medication with prednisone, methyl prednisolone or triamcinolone administered for a variety of clinical conditions. The hexosamine-collagen ratio (H/C) was determined. In 32 subjects, decrease in H/C values of 5% or greater were observed. The mean change in H/C in 35 patients following corticoid treatment was -12.9% [plus or minus] 1.5%.Keywords
