VISCERAL THROMBOPHLEBITIS MIGRANS

Abstract
Although involvement of the visceral veins with recovery is not uncommon in thrombophlebitis migrans, the disease may be fatal. The clinical features and pathological changes in 11 autopsied cases are reviewed (5 from the literature). The protean clinical manifestations caused by involvement of various organs as well as the complex systemic features of the disease are described. Pathogenesis remains obscure and therapy is limited.
