Abstract
Osteological study shows that Cheimarrichthys fosteri Haast, is very closely related to the mugiloidid Parapercis colias (Bloch and Schneider). As a result, Cheimarrichthys should be placed in the family Mugiloididae. C. fosteri is described and knowledge of its biology discussed and reviewed. Keywords
