Abstract
The technique of convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) has been used to show that the intensity within the kinematically forbidden {200} reflections is due to double diffraction. It is also shown that electron diffraction, with the electron beam parallel to the high-symmetry [010] and [101] zone axis, is inherently unable to detect a possible small displacement of the Al3+ ions in the spinel lattice. Keywords
