Abstract
Touch and hypnosis are both powerful methods of communication. When the two modalities are combined they will often augment each other. There is a general taboo against touching which has kept therapists from utilizing touch to its fullest capacity. A review of the literature suggests that touch may be useful in combating anxiety, modifying undesirable physiologic responses and in achieving a positive therapeutic outcome. Techniques for employing touch to augment the effectiveness of hypnosis are described. Keywords
