Abstract
Relationships between whole blood lipid and linoleic acid levels and various laying activity parameters were investigated using mature White Leghorn pullets. The only laying factor to show significant correlations with any of the whole blood lipid analyses was egg weight. Significant quadratic correlations were observed between egg weight and whole blood lipid concentration (P < 0·01), whole blood total lipid (P < 0·05) and whole blood total linoleic acid (P < 0·05). The differences in whole blood lipid levels were small, however, in comparison with those between laying and non‐laying hens. Keywords
