Increasing Battery Reliability for Radio Transmitters

Abstract
It is suggested that battery reliability, a problem in wildlife radiotelemetry research, can be improved by selecting batteries whose current drain is matched to the intended application and that batteries without soldered tabs are less likely to be damaged internally in manufacture. Manufacturing flaws in batteries and partially spent batteries can be detected by an X-ray technique.
