Abstract
The synthesis of a series of heterobinuclear oxo -bridged compounds has been accomplished by redox reactions between FeII or MnII complexes of pentadentate and tetradentate salicylideneimines and thiosalicylideneimines and bidentate dithiocarbamates and either CrIVO ( tpp )( tpp ≡ dianion of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin) or MoVI (O)2( dtc )2 ( dtc ≡ diethyldithiocarbamato anion). The compounds are stable in solution in the absence of air but yield various homonuclear derivatives of the metals in its presence, these results indicating a degree of disproportionation of the oxo complexes. The compounds show reduced magnetic moments in line with magnetic coupling between the metal centres. Keywords
