Abstract
Summary: The potential defects in anaesthetic machines are reviewed and methods of detecting these defects are described. A logical checking procedure is presented together with a short procedure which could be used in emergency circumstances. It is suggested that these procedures are used in all anaesthetic training and practice. Keywords
