Interaction Mechanisms between Hexavalent Chromium and Corncob

Abstract
Batch conversion studies have shown that corncob can be used effectively to get rid of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions. The process is very pH dependant, a pH of 1 giving the best results. The mechanisms involved in the conversion are reduction and adsorption, the first one being the limiting step of the reaction. A model is proposed which seems to simulate the experimental data quite well.
