Abstract
Batch conversion studies have shown that corncob can be used effectively to get rid of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions. The process is very pH dependant, a pH of 1 giving the best results. The mechanisms involved in the conversion are reduction and adsorption, the first one being the limiting step of the reaction. A model is proposed which seems to simulate the experimental data quite well. Keywords
