Repeated Plasma Cortisol Determinations in Cushing's Syndrome Due to Adrenocortical Adenoma

Abstract
Plasma cortisol determinations were made by a fluorometric method, every 20 min throughout a 24-hr day, in a case of Cushing's syndrome due to an adrenocortical adenoma. Compared with 2 healthy subjects, the patient's curve is set at a higher level, with peaks of less important amplitude. It is concluded that plasma cortisol determinations at short-term intervals are of interest to differentiate adrenal hyperplasia from adrenal adenoma. The real autonomy of adrenal adenoma is to be discovered.
