Abstract
The extreme rarity of a recovery from thrombosis of the cavernous sinus, in addition to the administration of an unusually large amount of sulfanilamide seems sufficient reason for this case report.REPORT OF A CASEMrs. S., aged 19, white, had a history of intermittent suppurative otitis media in the left ear which had followed an attack of scarlet fever during early childhood. I was asked to examine her in her home on Dec. 14, 1938. She was complaining of severe pain in and around her left ear and the left side of her head and neck. According to the patient's mother, her present illness had begun about two weeks previously with an attack of influenza and tonsillitis.
