Abstract
The He II alpha photoelectron spectrum of atomic barium has been recorded and the principal states arising from 5p ionisation are reported. These states match closely the series limits recently observed in an absorption study of Ba I. They correspond to mixed states, ionisation to which appears to be explicable in terms of the process of final-state configuration interaction. Keywords
