Abstract
The color developed on a chromatographic paper strip by treatment with ninhydrin is proportional to the amt. of amino acid adsorbed. Transmission of treated paper for light of appropriate wavelength is a measure of the adsorbed amino acid, and is detd. by measuring the response of a model D photo-electric cell illuminated by filtered light passing through an ap-erature restricted region of the paper. Paper is mounted on a glass slide which can be moved past the aperature, thus permitting a differential analysis along the strip. Diagram and description of the apparatus are given. Keywords
