Intimate Femicide

Abstract
This research focuses on demographic and situational factors related to the killing of females by male intimate partners. A cross sectional survey design was used to gather data through interviewing. The sample was comprised of 23 men incarcerated within the Missouri correctional system. Findings supported data from earlier studies regarding age of offenders and the intraracial nature of homicide. While prior research has indicated that the most frequent perpetrators of intimate femicide are husbands - these findings indicate that persons who are separated are the most frequent perpetrators of intimate femicide. The findings and recommendations suggest the need for future studies to assess the presence of battering and marital rape in relationships where lethal violence has occurred.
