Abstract
A test was conducted to determine if dimethoate and malathion residues could be detected in the milk of dairy cows. One of 2 groups of 2 animals each was rubbed thoroughly with hand-operated backrubbers treated with either a 1% dimethoate solution or a 2% malathion solution once each day for 3 consecutive days. Pretreatment milk samples were taken, and control samples were taken from the bulk tank when the test samples were taken. On each of the 3 treatment days, 1 qt. milk samples were collected from each test cow during the morning milking period and during the night milking period. Composite samples were taken each day for 4 additional days after the 3rd treatment. No dimethoate or malathion residues were detected in the milk samples. Keywords
