Abstract
Material of Cricosphaera carterae was examined cytologically with the acetocarmine technique. Nuclear division is similar to that found in higher plants. Investigations showed there to be a chromosomal alternation of generations, which corresponds to the morphological alternation. The motile phase is diploid, 2n = 42 ± 2, and the non-motile phase is haploid, n = 21 ± 1.Keywords
