Abstract
Measurements of relative S2 concentrations following flash photolysis of OCS diluted with CO2 have been used to investigate the mechanism of polymerisation of atomic sulphur. Formation and removal of S2 occurs principally by the following mechanism: 2S2+ CO2→ S4+ CO2(8), S + S4→ S3+ S2(19), S + S3→ 2S2. (18) The value of k8 is revised to approximately 1 × 10–29 cm6 molecule–2 s–1.Keywords
