Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 72-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of progressive neuropathy.He was in vigorous health until eight months earlier, when he began to experience a sensation like electric shocks that traveled from the left toes to the knee, occurred several times daily, and lasted three to four minutes each time; he believed that the left lower leg was weak. Anorexia developed, with early satiety and weight loss, five weeks later malaise and fever appeared. He became confused and disoriented. Six months before admission he entered another hospital.
