Abstract
Osculating elements of comet Bowell (l980b) discovered early in the year 1980 are given and the original value of the reciprocal of semi-major axis, a is calculated. It is found that (1/a)orig is likely to be negative. Since its heliocentric distance r > 5 AU during the observing period, the non-gravitational force cannot be a possible explanation of the weakly hyperbolic character of the orbit. Keywords
