Abstract
Some new approaches to the problem of transmission of electromagnetic waves through a finite conducting plasma slab, as formulated by Baraff, are presented. The two‐point boundary value problem for the integro‐differential equation of nonlocal wave interaction is reduced to a Cauchy system. It is pointed out that under circumstances where computational difficulties may be expected to occur with this Cauchy system a transformation to rotating coordinates will be beneficial. Consequently, a Cauchy system is derived for rotationally transformed equations also. Some alternative approaches are discussed, and an approximate perturbation formula is derived. Keywords
