Fibrosarcomatous Dedifferentiation of Primary and Secondary Chondrosarcoma

Abstract
Five of twenty-seven chondrosarcomas seen at the Hospital for Special Surgery from 1952 to 1972 showed fibrosarcomatous dedifferentiation. One was primary and four were secondary, three in patients with enchondromas and one in a patient with Ollier's disease. The development of purely fibrosarcomatous metastases in less than one year in four of the five patients emphasizes the malignant nature of this change.
