Abstract
Four pilot studies using single case experimental design were carried out to examine the immediate effect of music as a form of stimulation in the treatment of patients in persistent vegetative state. In two of the studies there were significant behaviour changes which suggested increased arousal, one showed decreased arousal after the stimulation period and one no change. Keywords
