Abstract
Light microscopic cytodiagnosis only indicates that the epithelial cells [human] and the parasite [Candida albicans] are very close to one another. It does not show whether both elements are only temporarily projected above one another or in direct contact. EM verifies that the yeast cells, despite their size, invade intact epithelial cells and reproduce within these cells.
