Abstract
First electron-microscopic observations of stacking faults in pyrite Plates of natural monocrystalline pyrite (FeS2) were electrolytically thinned and observed by transmission electron microscopy at 100 kV. Stacking faults located in {100} planes are identified. The displacement vector R lies parallel to the plane defect. Its direction is unique for a given family of {100} planes: [100] for (010), [010] for (001) and [001] for (100). The magnitude of R is estimated from the values of interatomic distances. Keywords
